Alan Vera, Fortaleza International Airport’s Operations Director claimed to Diário do Nordeste that the terminal expansion is already 54% completed. “We’ve already integrated the central area connecting to the domestics flight’s boarding gates – which will also be increased. We’re also about to open an all new x-ray area for international flights.”
Fortaleza International Airport’s expansion project comes as a direct response to the increased demand for the past few years over Ceará region. 2018 ended with a 12% growth over 2017 in flight connections to Fortaleza alone. Alan Vera predicts a very similar growth for 2019, as public interest in the Ceará region is constantly raising, both locally and foreign,
This higher interest in Ceará region – specially in Fortaleza – as made some airlines companies increase weekly flights over to Europe, America and even Africa. 2019 is expected to bring more tourism and investment to the area.
